Lyrics always attract me to a song and the more simplistic it’s often the most powerful. Also helps if the song has other highlights, a strong sax and guitar playing along. However when he sings about another, who’s going to settle down and find some peace elsewhere but he’s aware that it’ll never happen, well that lyric hits home …hard.

I was only 2 years old when this song came out but I distinctly remember hearing it so many times and I consider this song my gateway to my past. Anytime I hear it it reminds me of being a kid and walking to the store to buy candy. Back when life was simple

In November 2010, Rafferty was admitted to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital where he was put on a life-support machine and treated for multiple organ failures. After being taken off life support, Rafferty rallied for a short time, and doctors thought that he might recover. Rafferty died of liver failure at the home of his daughter Martha in Stroud, Gloucestershire, on 4 January 2011. He was 63.

I lost my 17 yr old son last year. I listen to music to comfort me. So glad I found this one. I'm going to listen to this over and over because it's perfect.
